RVWSB SUPPORTS CHEMUSUSU DISPENSARY

Rift Valley Water Service Board has awarded the Chemususu Community Dispensary KSH 500,00 towards the equipping of the health facility serving the Chemususu community and its environs. The facility was funded by the Chemususu Dam Half Marathon. Speaking during the award of the cheque to Mr. Mathew Birir an official of the Community, the RVWSB project Engineer for Chemususu Water Project, Joseph Salee said the support will go along way in operationalization of the community health facility. RVWSB is currently implementing the Chemususu Water Supply project that will ensure distribution of more than 35 million liters of clean water from Chemususu Dam to more than 300,000 residents of Eldama Ravine, Mogotio and Rongai Sub Counties.

CHEMUSUSU PHASE II GAINS MOMENTUM

The implementation of the Chemususu Phase II Water Supply Project to supply water to more than 600,000 residents of Baringo County has commenced inharnest. The project being implemented by Rift Valley Water Services Board will be completed by 2018. The Board is proud to announce that the works has already started and contractor Guanzxi Hydroelectric Construction Bureau of China is currently on site and the consulting engineer Gibb Africa Ltd is currently reviewing the design works.
According to RVWSB Resident Engineer Joseph Salee “The contractor has mobilized his team to site and set up the campsite at Kamelilo area of Eldama Ravine after receiving the commencement order on 30th August 2016 and so far the contractor has managed to mobilize materials, staff, machinery, procuring of insurance for the project works and project vehicles.”
The site will be fully established for both the contractor and the consultant by the end of October 2016. Also this month of October will witness the stripping of the ground for the treatment works near the dam intake, the surveying of the pipeline and beaconing of the raw water main of 700m from the intake to the treatment works, establishment of three control points for the treatment works that will used to fix the elevation and the coordinates for the structures to be constructed
Additional works to be undertaken within the next few weeks will include excavation and laying of the raw water line of 500mm diameter, excavation and construction of the main treatment works, rehabilitation of old treatment works and the construction of the resident engineer’s offices which will be converted later to be the offices for the Water Service Provider-Chemususu Water Company in Eldama Ravine.
